August

Another busy month...

Lots of photos of little Heidi as usual! She’s growing so fast, I feel I need to capture every moment before she changes!  I did managed to point the camera at something else other than Miss Heidi and enjoyed photographing some interesting surroundings, walls, doors, peeling paint etc! August is my birthday month so a shot of my lovely birthday cake, nothing special, just a supermarket buy – I’m waiting a couple of years for a super special cake..........already in the planning! The wonderful Seed Gallery and Studio in Crich, my latest stockist and definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Oh and I almost forgot, this month also saw the re-introduction of my work room! I haven’t evicted Heidi from her nursery but found a creative space elsewhere, it’s still early days and there’s lots to do but it’s my creative corner and I LOVE IT!

So onto September.....

Back to nature...

Since we’ve had a few nice weather days, walking with the pram has been quite pleasurable.  I’ve always found nature really inspiring, especially summer, the light is beautiful and the fields and hedgerows bursting with energy (some may say over grown - but I like it!) Here are a few photos I took on recent walks...

(Above image taken with Instagram)

I only have a slight obsession with these lovely cow parsley seed heads! I think they're beautiful.

NEW stockist!.....The Seed Gallery and Studio at Crich.

I recently had a wonderful opportunity to take some Tattered Rose jewellery into a lovely local gallery....

The Seed Gallery and Studio in Crich is a fabulous find!

I met Sarah, the owner, at the recent fabulousplaces.co.uk Summer Market and although I’d heard about the gallery, I hadn’t had chance to visit yet.  I could have posted the Tattered Rose pieces to the gallery and although this was a tempting option due to being quite busy, I really wanted to go in person!  I’m so glad I did, it’s full of delightful decorative arts and crafts, and all by East Midlands based designer/makers, such a lovely touch.  I recognised several pieces of work and also discovered some new work, including AlexMcQuade and Helen Meakin, we’re such a talented region!

Oh and it just so happens to be opposite The Loaf, a wonderful bakery and cafe with focaccia to die for!

HIAT# 1...

How I Accessorised Today...

I've added to my collection of cord bracelets.  I initially chose a navy bracelet with gunmetal links and charms, always with the idea to choose at least one other to go with it (I think they work really well in two's or three's)

Well the neckline of my chosen top called for a bracelet or three (does that make sense?!) so I went for red, natural and light brown...

I think they go well with my coral chinos, cream shoes and animal print top - which you can't really see on the photos, so here is a better picture...

Leopard print tunic from Dorothy Perkins (in the sale but now seems to be sold out if you were wondering!)

So I now have 4 all together and I think I'll be able to swap and change them to co-ordinate with most of my summer wardrobe!

July...

So here is another new feature for the blog.....

I take an awful lot of photographs - fact!  Sometimes of important things, sometimes of pointless things, sometimes just for fun, sometimes set up and just sometimes I catch a fabulous moment which makes all of the time taken faffing around taking poinless photos worthwhile – I believe it’s all practice and I enjoy it!
So here is a montage of photographs I took during the month of july...

It features a mixture of business and pleasure which kind of reflects my life at the moment!  Lots of Heidi finally wearing some summer clothes and being awake enough to enjoy the swings (nearly as much as Mummy!) Our adventures in weaning! Bits and bobs from the Tattered Rose jewellery collection that went down really well at the summer events and a sneak preview of some new things I’m working on ready for...........dare I say it..............Christmas!!

My Nana...

In memory of a very special lady...

Thank you for lazy Saturday mornings, watching telly, waiting for the veg man, painting our nails (yours- a delicate pink, mine electric blue) and not shouting at me when I got some on the carpet.

Thank you for rice pudding with milky way magic stars, flat lemonade, mint imperials and werther’s originals.

Thank you for the strawberries in your garden, for having an endless supply of lace/fabric/thread and for the funny board game with the coloured peg that I never really knew how to play properly!

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, your courage and your love.

But most of all, thank you for being my Nana, every single memory I have of you is so fond, so precious and so full of love.

Voila...!

Here is the finished piece....
I went for the smartie base as I wanted more of a cocktail hat rather than a fascinator or full on hat (so inspired by a certain Duchess’ choices throughout the jubilee celebrations!)

I decided the flower was too much and preferred the simple look of just the sinamy loops with the veiling.  I fixed it all onto a metal headband and comfortably wore it until about 6pm!

Not to be outdone, little miss Heidi had a beautiful pinky-coral layered dress with lots of ruffles and bows on the shoulders!  She wore a sunhat (embellished with ribbon flowers especially for the occasion) when we were outside for the photos but I made a cute little daisy headband for her to wear indoors...
(I'd like to say that she wore it comfortably until 6pm also........... but I'd be telling lies!)

I always swore that no baby of mine would ever wear a headband but she just looked so sweet, I couldn’t resist!
