Bananas and business

What to do with 3 very ripe bananas?.............................banana tea loaf!  I was up at the crack of dawn this morning baking this (not really the weather for a lie in!)  I split it into three pieces, one for me, one for Mum and Dad and one for my friend Kate and little Finley - I can't go and visit them without an offering of cake, it's become tradition!
I had a very productive day, lots of ideas spinning round my head now!  I'll hopefully have a couple of dates for future events to announce soon.
One last thing, check this out.... Tattered Rose has been featured on the latest fabulousplaces.co.uk newsletter!

Oh dear...

I woke up quite early this morning in anticipation of the football bbq/party we had been invited to.  I made 2 batches of world cup cakes and decorated them especially for the occasion.  What a shame our boys couldn't quite put the effort in to win, never mind, it's only a game!
That left the rest of the evening to sit in the garden.  Mr B did a lovely job of tiding it up yesterday so we're now plotting the future for our little patch of soil!

Well done Hana!

Hana is my boss and recently won the Outstanding Young Manager award at the Nottingham Stars Awards (very appropriate as Hana loves all things starry!)  As every woman will know, when you're looking for an outfit for a special occasion, the shops seem to be full of everything but what you want!  Eventually Hana settled on a gorgeous dress and it was up to me to make some impressive and award winning jewellery... (see below)

I really enjoyed making this set as Hana seems to like the asymmetric style especially when  it comes to earrings.  I added a horse shoe charm to the extension chain at the back which worked a treat!
Congratulations Hana!

Tango Trio

These were the results from testing out a new brown ink pad, yes, brown!  It's seems to be coming out a rather rusty brown, which is lovely, just not what I expected!
It's a short but sweet post tonight as I have lots to do, including packing up some samples for a very exciting adventure!

All packed up and ready to go

A box bursting with cards ready for Lavender Grey.  Of course, they had to be hand delivered, big mistake as Lucy has some gorgeous new stock.  I have a couple of birthdays coming up so I'll be back soon!
Below are a set of pendants I've just finished.  Using my new music stamp as a background and my beloved butterflies on a peachy pink base.  They would look good on a simple black top, just like my uniform..........hmmm...........might have to keep one back for myself!

Just to top it off...

A selection of card toppers ready to be fixed to card blanks.  I have a busy night ahead!

Banana and walnut cake seemed to go down well, one recipe request so can't be bad!

Dad's Day...(and Rachel's busy day!)

This was the card and gift for my Dad all wrapped up and ready for delivery this morning. I love wrapping things in brown paper and it wasn't an accident that the card matched! I used a stamp from a Stampin' Up set called 'Sense of time', it has a huge old fashioned clock face and some cogs.
This afternoon was spent eating a lovely Sunday roast lovingly prepared by my Mum, then at the pub with the in-laws. After getting home and eating Mr B's speciality chilli, I made a banana and walnut cake for work tomorrow and finished some cards......................phew, I'm tired now!
I would have taken a pic of the cake as it seems to have turned out ok but it's too dark now! I'll let you know how it went down tomorrow.

Special Delivery...

of 400 sheets of card! (quite heavy but very exciting!) I now have many evenings of cutting and creasing ahead - volunteers welcome.  After making some more cards in beautiful summer shades, I'll be onto the Christmas designs (yes, I just said Christmas!) I might have to get Mr B to get the decs down from the loft to set the mood - only joking!

Sunshine Stampbord!

Well what a gorgeous day and it's my day off, bonus!  This is the latest batch of pendants in lovely bright summer tones!  The collection was a bit larger but as two of them went perfectly with a certain person's new tops, they've been re-homed!
Lemur has been out and about 'helping' me with the washing (ever tried making a bed with a very inquisitive cat on the loose?)  She's now flaked out on the door mat!

I'm blogging early as Mr B and myself are of to a 2nd birthday party later. I've just spent the past 2 hours making a card for the lovely Finley (in the shape of a car with an acetate windscreen and shiney headlights!) I have just been reminded that he will probably rip it open, take one look at it and toss it aside! I am fully prepared for this and will try not to cry (too loudly!) It's a good job I enjoy making them!

Special order..

This delicious turquoise/aqua/teal set was made especially for Marissa, owner of Effleurage Hair and Beauty.  It's opening day tomorrow and she requested some Tattered Rose creations for the event!  She's a fellow lover of the long dangle earrings (it was very hard to part with this pair!)
Note Hilda who is modeling the asymmetric necklace, I picked her up from an antique centre on Wednesday (amongst other things!) She's not an antique but I just fell in love with her.  I first thought I might paint her but I'm really growing to like the brown paper look!

My cabinet...

This morning I went to set up my cabinet at Effleurage Hair and Beauty.  The salon is absolutely fabulous, the decor and finishing is beautiful and hopefully my jewels will feel at home in their gorgeous surroundings!  Unfortunately I can't be there on Saturday for the opening but I wish Marissa and her team the best of luck!

Keeping calm and carrying on...

Sorry for the lack of posts, very busy gathering things together for my friend's new hair and beauty salon.  I get a cabinet all to myself!  I'm going to set everything up tomorrow ready for the grand opening on Saturday.  I'll try to get some pictures of the finished layout but must dash, lost of signs, labels and packaging to be done!

Au naturale

Everywhere I look at the moment I see gorgeous pale pinks and peaches.  Unfortunately, being an English Rose (and most of the time tattered!) I can't wear these lovely colours as I end up looking rather ill!  I can, however, accessorise with them.  The picture doesn't do them much justice as the colours are so subtle. They have a pale pink background and 'tea stained' edge with my favourite Swarovski crystal diamante - Vintage Rose.

A busy Wednesday

Some people use their day off to relax, not me, there was plenty to do at Tattered Rose HQ today!  The sunny weather inspired some tropical stampbord pendants featuring flowers and butterflies.

Today also involved a trip to Lavender Grey in Belper, such a gorgeous shop.  I could quite easily have left with one of everything!  Hopefully it won't be my last visit, I'll keep you posted!
Whilst in Belper Mum and I stopped for lunch at Fresh Basil (Belper Rarebit, yum!)  We also treated ourselves to some chocolates from I should cocoa.  These included Warm Shiraz, Peanut Butter & Jam and Sea Salt Caramel, all divine!

After this it was back to work to check out a local antique/reclaimation centre (unfortunately no tattered treasure today!) Lastly it was a trip to the garden centre and my old place of work for some craft supplies.  An interesting experience as one of the visiting meerkats from the pets corner made a bid for freedom, not something you see everyday!
